Walkers have more power than I thought.

The Wisconsin State Journal article, Safe & Sound: Drivers must pay attention to pedestrian crossings, lists the times that vehicles must yield to pedestrians. Included in the list is when "Pedestrians are crossing a street within a marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection with no traffic signals."

I like it. Now if only I could take down all the traffic signals in the campus area.
